Is the spinning wheel really random?

Our wheel uses the browser's built-in random number generator, Math.random(). It is fine for classrooms and games, but MDN says it is not cryptographically secure.

How the result is chosen

The wheel picks its result with Math.random(), the random number generator built into your browser. MDN describes it as giving numbers that are approximately uniformly distributed, so with equal slices each entry has the same chance.

What it is not

MDN states that Math.random() does not provide cryptographically secure random numbers, and recommends crypto.getRandomValues() for anything security-related. In practice that means:

Make a draw transparent

FAQ

Can someone predict the result?

Not in everyday use. But because Math.random() is not cryptographically secure, it should not protect anything of real value.

Do I need a licence to run a giveaway?

Rules depend on your country and platform. Check the official rules before running any prize promotion.
